WALK AGAINST RACISM – ABORIGINAL RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

Dear Everyone …. Please forward & circulate widely!!

This month organisations are standing together to make a statement against the Northern Territory Intervention!

The NSW Reconciliation Council is inviting all Local Reconciliation Groups, families, friends, neighbours and the general public to join together and rally against the racially discriminatory policies of the Federal Government.

The NSWRC will have a contingent in the 10km ‘Walk Against Racism’ from La Perouse to Redfern next Saturday 13 Feb.

- look for the NSWRC Banner at both sites!!

Two Meeting Points:

* 9am: ‘The Walk to Redfern’ – La Perouse Point on Bunnerong Rd

and

* 1pm: ‘The Rally’ – The Block, Redfern (opposite Redfern Railway Station)

Please read the NSWRC Feb. Newsletter (see below) giving further details re The Intervention + names of Speakers @ the Redfern Rally.

FLYING THE ABORIGINAL FLAG PERMANENTLY ON THE HARBOUR BRIDGE

Amidst other important items in this NSWRC Feb. Newsletter (below) please especially note & support the ‘FLYING THE FLAG’ campaign of the NSWRC in partnership with the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council.

The aim of this campaign is to have a third flagpole between the two existing flagpoles atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge, to permanently fly the Aboriginal Flag. (At present the Aboriginal Flag is flown on the Bridge only for NAIDOC Week.)

As 2010 is the 10th Anniversary of the ‘People’s Harbour Bridge Walk for Reconciliation’ it is most fitting to achieve a successful outcome to this campaign this year. PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT.

As the ‘Tribal Warrior’ flagship states on its sail ‘It’s a Koori Harbour’.

Red Cocaktoo Australia gets a News Page

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Today Red Cocaktoo Australia is launching a news section for the website.  This section will be used to publish news and articles of interest to our readers, artists and stockists.

We are intending to post articles on any special events, as well as information about Indigenous Australians, and information about our business processes and the artists themselves.  A good way to use the RSS feed.

Readers are invited to reply to the articles.

There is even the possibility for you to make comments on the stories posted here. It opens up the possibility for interaction between us and you, and we are very excited about that prospect.  Unfortunately in order to prevent spam occurring, your comments will need to be approved.  We will attend to that as quickly as possible, but please be patient, I know that you would not want to read posts advertising inappropriate services.

Please let us know what you would like to see here.
