Seasons
Artist: Mercy Paymurra Fredericks
Story: This painting depicts the five seasons that occur in the North Kimberly.
At the top of the painting is burned country with rocks and burnt tree stumps at the end of the dry season. Just below is the river full of fresh rain water and river stones after the first rain. In the centre of the painting is the dry rive after the floods with the Liy-Liy (sacred rocks) which are used for rain making exposed. Below, we see the full billabongs surrounded by white sand (Kululu) which has been transported by the floods. At the base of the painting is dry billabongs, exposed rocks and rocky hills.
